Our oceans are a vital part of the Earth's balance. Absorbing 30 percent of CO2 emissions every year, our oceans have become a safety net for human error. Well now they are going to pay. The Alaskan King Crab has slowly been shown the effects of CO2. By keeping the Earth cool, many oceans have now become plagued by a growing pH level.
For Alaskan waters, many species have felt this sacrifice. The Alaskan King Crab population often dies before adulthood due to the inability to form a hard shell. Scientist Robert Foy states that the crab will likely die out in the next hundred years and it is very unlikely that they will evolve towards the more acidic oceans.
