Winter Storm Argos has now dumped over 20 inches of snow in parts of the interior Northeast, and, along with strong winds, has produced whiteout conditions in parts of New York state and northern New England. More than just a pure lake-effect event, wrapping in moisture from the western Atlantic Ocean, central and Upstate New York have been hammered by heavy snow overnight Sunday into Monday, with snow rates of 2 inches per hour in one particular strong lake-enhanced snowband. This will close out Argos' cross-country journey, which started during the middle of last week in the Rockies where over a foot of snow fell. Argos then spread blizzard conditions into the northern Plains to close out last week before advancing east over the weekend. Several locations of New York state, northern Pennsylvania, even the Berkshires of western Massachusetts have now picked up over a foot of snow, and some have now topped 20 inches.
