The Met Office has issued a yellow severe weather warning across much of the UK except strips of the far west, south and east, saying a band of rain and showers will turn to sleet and snow in many places. By Sunday evening reports were coming in of sleet and snow in many areas.
During the evening falls of up to 6cm were expected in some places, rising to 10cm on higher ground and with up to 15cm above 300m in Aberdeenshire, Angus and Perth and Kinross.
