The next significant threat of severe thunderstorms begins late Wednesday in the southern Plains. Large hail and some high wind gusts are the primary threats overnight Wednesday night in Texas and extreme southern Oklahoma, potentially including Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio.
The severe threat then sweeps into the Lower Mississippi Valley Thursday, including parts of east Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi, in association with Winter Storm Q.
Damaging straight-line winds, hail, and possibly a few tornadoes are possible in these areas, including Houston, Baton Rouge, and New Orleans.
