CHICAGO --
Some areas in northern Illinois could see a blast of snow and sleet just in time for the morning commute. The National Weather Service said heavy snow and sleet could move across northern Illinois early in the morning, amounting to up to an inch of accumulation in some areas north of Interstate 80.
ABC7 Meteorologist Tracy Butler said icing can occur on untreated surfaces very rapidly, creating slick driving conditions. Morning commuters are advised to drive carefully.
Conditions should improve quickly as the morning progresses, with high temperatures in the upper 30s or low 40s.
