Severe weather predictions have been downgraded for much of central Alabama as of 3 p.m., the National Weather Service reports.
Though severe thunderstorms with damaging winds were expected across the state, new forecasts indicate any severe weather will likely be localized south of Tuscaloosa and Birmingham.
The Storm Prediction Center in Oklahoma has virtually all of Alabama at a "slight" risk for severe weather Saturday with the exception of extreme west Alabama.
The SPC also has most of the state at a 2 percent risk for tornadoes on Saturday.
