Temperatures have been chilly of late throughout the Bay Area, but meteorologist Jan Null of Golden Gate Weather Services says it's nothing out of the ordinary. "I think the cold snap is overplayed because all the cloud cover is going to moderate temperatures," Null says. "We'll see some lows in the lower 30s in the coldest interior valleys, the North Bay, and the far East Bay, but nothing that's very dramatic for this time of year. I'm not seeing 20s or anything like that. "We won't see widespread frost damage. "He said the bigger story is the series of systems that are expected to start moving through the Bay Area Wednesday night. These systems are coming from the west, they're fast-moving, and typically our computer models can't keep up with them very well," Null says. "But what we're looking at right now is the first wave of moisture coming Wednesday night that will begin in the North Bay and then move south. "It will be mostly light rain in the area, ranging from a quarter to half an inch. A stronger storm comes in Thursday to Friday, which will have heavier rain, possibly one inch in cities across the Bay and two inches in higher terrain. "The next system comes in Sunday and Monday, but it will be a weak system with a half inch of rain expected.
