LINCOLN, Neb. — Storms swept across the viewing area on Monday, but most of the activity missed Lincoln and stayed east of the city. However, two tornadoes were reported as the strong storms pushed across the Omaha metro area.
The storms brought quarter-sized hail and high winds.The National Weather Service reports there was a brief tornado touchdown in Saunders County near Cedar Creek, as well as a large tornado touchdown six miles northwest of Murray. A cone shaped tornado was reported near Louisville.
Near Thurman, Iowa there were reports of overturned semis blown off the interstate due to high winds. MidAmerican Energy reports more than 1600 customers are without power in Council Bluffs.
