Winter Weather Advisory in effect for Lake and McHenry Counties in Illinois from 4PM to 9PM Thursday – remainder of northeast Illinois and the Chicago area in for possible mixed precipitation early Thursday

The Chicago National Weather Sevice Forecast Office has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Lake and McHenry Countes in Illinois for up to three inches of snow causing hazardous travel conditions especially on untreated roads and highways later Thursday afternoon into the evening hours.

Early this Thursday morning a mix of freezing rain, sleet and snow will spread across northeast Illinois into the Chicago area. However temperatures are expected to rise above freezing during the forenoon Thursday, resulting in the mixed precipitation changing over to a cold rain. Travel conditions for the morning commute  - especially the early commuters could be troublesome, but when the precipitation becomes all rain - conditions should improve significantly.
