The Chicago area will host to a variety of precipitation Thursday. Southern sections will get mostly rain during the day, while areas to the north get a mixture of rain, freezing rain and sleet that will gradually transition to rain by afternoon as temperatures climb into the mid-30s
By late afternoon, colder air will sweep into the area, gradually changing the rain to snow. The change will start along the Wisconsin state line and gradually spread south, reaching the city and south suburbs by early Thursday night.
