Derecho Hits Chicago and Milwaukee: 5 Dead, Several More Injured in the Midwest and Plains

A derecho swept from the Midwest to the western Great Lakes Monday, bringing devastating wind gusts, at least seven tornadoes and heavy rain into the Plains and Midwest.
The storms are blamed for at least five deaths and numerous injuries. Several people were injured during a minor league baseball game at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Cedar Rapids when they were trying to put the tarp over the field, according to KCRG.com.

Below is a state-by-state rundown of the areas already affected by this severe weather outbreak.

Illinois

The National Weather Service has confirmed six EF1 tornadoes touched down during the derecho, damaging the landscape and a few homes across northern Illinois.
One death has been reported from effects of the storm in the state. Nedal Doleh, 21, was electrocuted by a power line felled by the storms in the Burbank neighborhood of Chicago Tuesday, according to NBC Chicago.
In western and southern Illinois, there is a flood warning along the Mississippi River due to backwater. The Rock Island Argus reports residents in one East Moline neighborhood were asked to evacuate late Monday night because of significant flash flooding.
Hundreds of flights were canceled or delayed Monday and Tuesday at Chicago's O'Hare and Midway airports.
