Severe Weather in the Deep South: At Least Five Tornadoes Confirmed

At least five tornadoes have been confirmed after a round of severe weather moved through the Deep South Sunday night into Monday, and at least one of these storms caused serious damage to structures in the Florida Panhandle.
"A powerful jet stream, relatively warm, humid air and low-level wind shear ahead of a cold front combined to spawn supercell thunderstorms, a few of which spun up tornadoes in the Deep South," said weather.com senior meteorologist Jon Erdman. "November is notorious for tornadoes in the Deep South."

The NWS later performed a damage survey and concluded it was an EF2, and a second tornado was spawned in Liberty and Gadsden counties, which was rated EF1.
Two people were slightly injured during the event, according to the Associated Press. Calhoun County Sheriff Glenn Kimbrel told the AP that workers were arriving for their shifts at about 4 a.m. local time Monday morning when the tornado caused major damage to about 30 vehicles in the prison parking lot.
