Severe Weather Forecast: Isolated Severe Storms Early Week; Bigger Threat Looms

Isolated severe storms are possible on Tuesday from the central Plains to the mid-Mississippi Valley and Ohio Valley. Heavy rain could also trigger some localized pockets of flash flooding in this area.

Orange areas indicate where thunderstorms are possible over the next 12 hours and red areas (if any) highlight areas where severe thunderstorms are possible.
    A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for a small part of southeast Missouri and southwest Illinois until 2 p.m. CDT. Large hail and localized damaging wind gusts are the main concerns.
    Tuesday morning, a cluster of severe storms produced hail up to the size of golfballs in parts central and eastern Missouri, including the St. Louis metro.



    Isolated severe storms are also possible in the central valley of California on Tuesday.
    By Wednesday, the ingredients for widespread severe storms and possible tornadoes will return.
