Tropical Storm Maysak made landfall in the Philippines Sunday after killing at least five people and causing extensive damage in Micronesia. Interior secretary Manuel Roxas II ordered preemptive evacuations Saturday for tourists visiting the northeastern coast of the country, as well as those living in low-lying areas, The Philippine Star reported. The Associated Press repots that over Friday and Saturday, three men drowned in northern Cagayan province, but officials have not decided whether the deaths were related to the approaching storm. Other than the drownings there have been no reported deaths thus far, but it is still very early.
