Winter Storm Brewing Out West?

By early Wednesday morning, a deepening upper level low and training cold front will be blasting it's way into the northern part of the IntermountainWest. Together, these elements will bring extremely cold air and a decent shot at snow.
As the cold front passes Billings, M.T., in the early morning hours, snow will begin to fall – portions of southern Montana could pick up as much as 1 to 2 inches of snow before the system moves out.
In addition, there is also some concern that rain preceding the snow could create icy conditions on the roads, as temperatures will rapidly plummet into the low teens by the end of the day. In anticipation of the icy/snowy combination, a winter weather advisory has been issued for most ofsoutheast Montana.  If you're traveling in the area, please use caution.

As the front pushes south, the chance for snow increases by Wednesday afternoon and evening for places like the Dakotas and Wyoming. Most people in these areas will see between 1 to 3 inches of snow, though larger amounts - especially in the higher elevations - cannot be completely ruled out.
Behind the cold front, breezy conditions are to be expected. Generally, winds will be in the 10 to 20 mile per hour range with gusts up to 30 miles per hour. This could affect high-profile vehicles on highways and interstates, so drive with caution.
