Three survive lightning strikes in Parmelia, Hammond Park during morning thunderstorm

Wild Storm: Three survive lightning hits

A volunteer firefighter and two other people are lucky to be alive after being struck by lightning during a wild thunderstorm this morning.

It is understood the man, a volunteer firefighter, fell to the ground after being hit by lightning at his Warner Road house about 8:30 am.

Two other people survived a lightning strike when the tree they were sheltering under in Hammond Park, south of Jandakot, was struck.

The couple had been in a bus shelter just before 9.30am, but decided to take shelter under the tree. It is believed they have been taken to Royal Perth hospital by St John Ambulance.

Earlier, the volunteer firefighter was checked by paramedics before being taken to hospital “suffering a little anxiety,” AAP reported.

A St John’s spokesman said the man was taken to Rockingham Hospital for treatment. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
