There have been large numbers of dead deer being found in parts of Indiana after an outbreak of an insect spread disease. This summer's drought has made the disease worse. State wildlife officials have been getting reports every day as of recent. One person found 30 dead deer near a pond on his property. The disease to blame is Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease, or EHD. The disease is spread by biting gnats that breed well in exposed mud flats. The disease leads to internal bleeding. This may lead to restrictions in hunting in the future.
