Super Typhoon Bopha, packing maximum sustained winds of 160 mph, made landfall in the southern Philippines on Tuesday. Bopha, the equivalent of a category-five hurricane, grazed the southern islands of the Republic of Palau late Sunday night local time, producing wind gusts up to 70 mph at the National Weather Service office in Koror, Palau. Approximately 21,000 live in the Republic of Palau, a group of roughly 300 islands east of the Philippines.
