Flooding In Illinois

Slowly retreating floodwaters gave some Midwesterners hope this week that the worst was over, but many worry that the earthen and days-old sandbag levees along the Illinois and Mississippi rivers could still fail. In North Dakota, residents of Grand Forks and Fargo are bracing for the worse as a sharp warm-up is expected this weekend, which would accelerate snow melt across the region.
