A stormy pattern is expected to continue to bring poor weather to much of Europe early this week.
Two storms, the first a slow-moving low over the Iberian Peninsula will bring cool weather and substantial rainfall to southern Europe. The second storm, a deep low over the Norwegian Sea will bring showers, but more importantly wind to the United Kingdom.
The more impressive system is the one over Spain, which will bring heavy rain across southern Europe. Rainfall amounts over southeastern Spain, southern France, and the Alps will be quite heavy in places, with many locations seeing over an inch and a half (3.8 cm) of rain.
This could be a major problem for the Alps as well, where warmth combined with rain should work to rapidly melt snow there, leading to an increase flooding risk.
