"The area of low pressure will linger along the Middle Atlantic coast into Saturday," said weather.com meteorologist Chris Dolce. "As a result, scattered showers and breezy winds will continue across the region. In addition, coastal locations will see lingering minor to locally moderate coastal flooding, high surf and some beach erosion."
According to local reports, seven inches of rain have fallen near Newport, N.C. through Friday afternoon, the highest total from the storm so far.
Rough surf could cause beach erosion along the shore that's still rebuilding nearly one year after Superstorm Sandy.
A coastal flood advisory is in effect through Friday afternoon in parts of the Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and New Jersey coasts.
Forecasters are predicting moderate to widespread minor flooding during high tide fueled by onshore winds on Friday that could continue through Sunday. Heavy rain could also contribute to flooding along the roads.
