Octave Nearing Baja California, Weakens

Octave formed over the weekend to the southwest of Mexico's Baja California peninsula.

Projected Path

Projected Path
The system is weakening as it approaches Baja California. Locally heavy rainfall and gusty winds will spread across the southern Baja California region as Octave moves through.
A tropical storm warning has been issued for a part of the southwestern Baja California coast (see map below). Octave is about 85 miles southwest of Cabo San Larazo, Mexico.
Octave will also have an impact on the weather in the United States.
Moisture and upper-level energy from the storm will get pulled northeastward into midweek and interact with a cold front moving across the central United States. This will help to enhance rainfall in the south-central states, including Texas.
