They offer us breathtaking vistas, ecological and archaeological treasures, as well as a window into history. But if present trends continue and the world keeps burning fossil fuels at its current pace, it's likely that few of them will be recognizable a century from now.
From places like Virginia's historic Jamestown, the first permanent English settlement in America, to Australia's Great Barrier Reef, warming temperatures and rising sea levels are slowly eating away at many of the world's most cherished sites and structures, both natural and man-made.
Nowhere on Earth is this happening more quickly than the first place on our list: the rapidly shrinking glaciers of Montana's Glacier National Park.
