High fire danger forecast today with warm, windy weather in Tulsa area



Fire weather conditions are expected to develop this afternoon across northeast Oklahoma, with high winds and high temperatures forecast.
The National Weather Service forecasts highs in the mid-90s and south wind gusts up to 35 mph today in Tulsa. Overnight lows in the upper 60s are forecast, with south wind gusts up to 30 mph.
Tulsa's temperatures are forecast to reach the 80s each day for the rest of the week, with overnight lows mostly in the 60s. Lows could fall to the 50s on Friday night, according to the weather service.
Tulsa tied a calendar date weather record for Monday, with a high of 92 degrees. The record was originally set in 1952.
As of Monday, Tulsa's average temperature in May is 1.5 degrees above normal. The highest was 94 degrees on Sunday, which was also the highest temperature recorded in Tulsa so far this year. The lowest was 37 degrees on Friday, according to the weather service.
Rain chances are forecast to begin for Tulsa overnight Wednesday night, with a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. A 60 percent chance is forecast during the Thursday, with a 50 percent chance forecast Thursday night.
Additional rain chances for Tulsa are forecast Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
Tulsa has not recorded any rainfall so far this month, according to the weather service. Tulsa recorded 2.13 inches of rain in April, which was 1.66 below normal.
