Bay Area heat wave: Gilroy reaches a record 104 degrees, cooler weather in sight

The late summer heat wave lingered Thursday as the sizzling temperatures continued to hit the Bay Area with record-breaking temperatures.
For the third day in a row, thermometers reached temperatures in the 100s inland.The mercury reached 104 in Gilroy, breaking its record of 103 degrees set in 1976. San Rafael tied its record at 99 degrees, which was set in 1951.
Livermore reached 106 Thursday, just one degree shy of matching its record of 107 in 1951. Concord's high was 103.
