Severe Weather for the East

Scattered strong thunderstorms are expected on Saturday from parts of the Mid-Atlantic states to central Florida. Pockets of locally heavy rain are possible in parts of the eastern Great lakes and Northeast.
In addition, the threat of waterspouts is in play over parts of the southern and eastern Great Lakes this weekend, including southern Lake Michigan, Lake Erie and Lake Ontario. One or more of these waterspouts may move ashore, and, if so, are capable of light damage.
Saturday
  • Threat areas: A few strong to severe thunderstorms appear possible from the Delaware Valley southward to central Florida. Locally heavy rain is possible along the Eastern Seaboard from Florida up into New York State.
  • Main threats: Gusty winds, small hail and locally heavy rain. A brief, weak tornado cannot be ruled out across the Delmarva region and southern New Jersey.
Sunday
  • Thunderstorm areas: Mainly non-severe scattered t-storms will be possible across Long Island, Upstate New York and New England. Other thunderstorms will fire across central and south Florida and portions of the Desert Southwest and the Sierra of California.
