According to the Australian Bureaus of Meteorology, this is the strongest El Nino since 1997-98. It is expected to bring heavy rain to South America, dry weather to Southeast Asia, and damaging winds to the Atlantic during hurricane season. The largest impacts are expected near the peak, which is in December and/or January. Unusually warm waters in the Pacific Ocean have the ability to change the storm's track. This will push the storm toward northern California. Abnormally warm waters in the Indian Ocean are also potentially going to impact the storms impact on Australia. If the storm continues to keep its strength, the U.S. is likely to experience a warmer winter. Some areas may even see lack of snowfall.
