Cities throughout Punjab, Pakistan experienced their first winter rainfall of the year, with rain turning the weather cold and decreasing temperatures significantly. The spout was felt throughout the areas of Multan, Bahawalpur, Verhari, Jahanian, Sadiqabad, and other areas.
Main roads were submerged in water and most cities and towns were without power because of the heavy rainfall.
However, agriculture experts say that the rain pour was helpful for growing crops: fruit orchards and vegetable farms; and emphasizes how the rain would be most beneficial for growing wheat crops, which is a primary cash crop of the winter season and a vital source of food for local residents.
On the other hand, experts pointed out that current smog conditions had a negative impact on growing and nourishing citrus fruits, another cash crop.
More rain is expected throughout different parts of Punjab during the next couple of days; and dense, foggy conditions are expected in the central and southern parts of Punjab.
