A new cloud species, named "undulatus asperatus" or "agitated waves" looks like a blanket of clouds.
Meteorologists from all over the world have discovered a new cloud type. The last discovery of a new cloud variety happened in 1951. Coining the term "undulatus asperatus", which in Latin means "agitative waves", these clouds take over all or a partial amount of the sky.
Cloudspotters have taken photos of these clouds over the past few years, and some even went viral. However, it will not be an official cloud species until the United Nations' World Meteorological Organization in Geneva approves, which could take years.
