Weather forecast for the Asia-Pacific region

Super Typhoon Jelawat will trek over the Ryukyu Islands on its northeastern path Saturday.
The strong storm will weaken to a Category 2 typhoon with winds between 96 and 110 mph (83 and 95 knots). It will produce heavy rainfall and strong thunderstorms across the islands. The leading edge of the system will start to affect western Japan in the afternoon and evening.
To the east, Tropical Storm Ewiniar will move northeast away from Japan. Tokyo will see increasingly cloudy skies as Jelawat approaches, with highs in the upper 20s Celsius.
To the north, a low pressure system will bring moisture to eastern China and the Korean Peninsula. Most of China will have a dry and warm day. Hong Kong will be sunny with highs in the upper 20s, while Beijing will be sunny with highs in the lower 20s.
In Australia, a low pressure system south of Tasmania will trigger rain showers that may extend northward into Queensland. Sydney will be rainy with highs in the lower 20s.
