In an article from Tracie Cone from The Weather Channel, the topic of a giant Sequoia in the Sierra Nevada being topped by another tree in height is discussed. The new tree is about 54,000 cubic feet, the second tallest tree in the world. The tree has about two million leaves, something quite unique as it may mean that the tree is very efficient in turning carbon dioxide into sugars during the photosynthesis process. The park where the tree lives may have to update signs, maps, and other items to keep the stature of the trees in the correct order.
