After Chicagoland enjoyed warm weather Sunday, there's a chance Monday could bring only the third 70-degree December day since record-keeping began in the area.
Before Sunday, Chicago had experienced only 71 days with temperatures of 60 degrees or higher in December since record-keeping began in 1871, according to the National Weather Service. O'Hare International Airport hit 60 degrees a little before noon Sunday, inching up to 62 by 3 p.m., but failing to meet the record of 71 degrees set in 1982.
Temperatures were at least 60 degrees at every airport weather station in the Chicago area Sunday afternoon, according to the weather service.
Before the 1982 record, a high of 71 was recorded Dec. 3, 1970.
