Looking back at a busy Atlantic hurricane season

Five months, 19 named storms and 10 hurricanes. 

The 2012 Atlantic hurricane season will be one for the record books. 

"Forecasters were thinking it was going to be a busy season, and it definitely played out that way," says Dayna Vettese, a meteorologist at The Weather Network. "We actually had 19 named cyclones, and we were initially predicting 12 to 17 named storms."

Vettese adds that one of the biggest surprises of the season was how early it began.
