Parts of Florida have been soaked by heavy rain the last few days thanks to a combination of upper-level energy, a frontal boundary and moisture from the Gulf of Mexico.
Rainfall Forecast Next 48 Hours
The locally heavy rain will continue to fall across parts of the saturated Florida Peninsula through Wednesday.

For this reason, flood watches remain posted across the central Florida Peninsula. This includesTampa, Fort Myers and Orlando.
If you encounter flooded out roads, it's unwise to cross on foot or in a vehicle. Six inches of swift moving water can sweep a person off their feet and two feet of rushing water can float an SUV.
(MAP: Flood Watches/Warnings)
Localized flooding was reported in west-central Florida on Monday, particularly in Hernando and Lee counties. Both Sarasota and Fort Myers recorded more than 3 inches of rain for the day.
On Tuesday, Fort Myers picked up another 2.46 inches of rain. Over the last few days, locally more than six inches of rain has been reported in Sarasota County.
The good news is that we should see a drying trend by Thursday and Friday with scattered showers only lingering in southern Florida.
