Local lawmakers weigh in on Trump administration's dire climate report

A new Trump administration report on climate change warns of dire economic and environmental consequences if drastic action isn't taken on carbon emissions, and local politicians are taking notice.

The 1,600-page report released by 13 federal agencies says weather disasters caused by climate change have cost over $400 billion since 2015.

"Earth’s climate is now changing faster than at any point in the history of modern civilization, primarily as a result of human activities," researchers said in the latest National Climate Assessment.
President Donald Trump doesn't believe the new report and said the U.S. shouldn't be expected to act on climate change if other industrial countries like Japan and China aren't.

"One of the problems that a lot of people like myself, we have very high levels of intelligence, but we're not necessarily such believers," the president said. "You look at our air and our water and it's right now at a record clean."
