Australia is likely to experience hotter than usual temperatures this summer, sparking fresh bushfire and heatwave warnings. In the Bureau of Meteorology’s summer outlook, released today, forecasters predicted an 80 percent chance of higher-than-average temperatures across the country. Aussies are being warned to “expect some hot days and sticky nights” - except for far western WA where it will be cooler at night. The chance for hotter-than-average days is “very likely” for Sydney, with a 91 percent chance, while it’s set to be drier than average in large parts of WA, Queensland, and the top end of the Northern Territory.
