Severe Storms in the Northwest, Great Plains This Weekend; Heavy Rain over West

A few severe storms cannot be ruled out in the Plains and Northwest Sunday, although the overall threat of severe storms will be minimal.
Background

National Forecast: Next 12 Hours

National Forecast: Next 12 Hours
In the Plains, a southward-sagging cold front will trigger some scattered thunderstorms; one or two could turn severe with gusty winds and hail, mainly over parts of Kansas and Oklahoma.
In Oregon and Washington, showers and storms will develop as an upper-atmospheric disturbance swings through the region. A few of these storms could get a bit feisty with gusty winds and hail as well.
Meanwhile, more locally heavy rain and flash flooding is possible in parts of the West. Flood watches/warnings are posted in portions of New Mexico, Colorado and Idaho.
If you are in an area that has been hit hard by flooding the last few days (particularly Colorado), continue to stay away from swollen rivers and creeks. Six inches of fast moving flood waters can knock people off their feet and two feet of rushing water can push an SUV downstream.
