A disturbing storm will be cutting through the Labor Day holiday weekend, another round of severe thunderstorms expected for parts of the Midwest.
Sunday, a cold front continues to drop south and will fire off thunderstorms through the afternoon hours. The lift from a cold front coupled with abundant moisture and environmental instability will result in some severe weather, especially in parts of the Midwest.
The greatest threat for severe weather encompasses central Illinois, east-central Missouri and western Indiana. The main threat will be hail and high winds.
In other parts of the country: thunderstorms will initiate along the same frontal boundary in the Northeast. Typical summertime showers and thunderstorms will offer scattered but broad coverage in the Deep South.
Monsoonal moisture will also aid in afternoon rain and thunderstorm development in the Desert Southwest as well.
