During the Labor day weekend temperatures rose above 90 degrees causing a disturbance in the weather causing storms. The wind speed was about 60 mph. Some particular county's such as Grundy, LaSalle and Kendall received high alerts for severe thunderstorm warnings. According to the National Weather Service these warnings died out after the storms had diminished.
During Friday's storms the Lake front had high waives and resulted into two individuals getting injured while swimming in Lake Michigan. Also, there was an incident involving a collapsed roof in a women's home; some buildings caught on fire due to the lightning that afternoon.
The heat and humidity was the major caused to the line of storms in Chicago. As a result many residents and customers were left with no power for periods of time.
