Prolonged cold in the Midwest will be made even worse by Winter Storm Seneca, the latest snow event likely to cause travel headaches and sore backs from more shoveling in parts of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and the U.P. of Michigan. "The heaviest (snowfall) is going to be just to the east of Minneapolis proper," said Tom Niziol winter weather expert for The Weather Channel. "As much as a foot and a half could fall in the U.P. of Michigan, and that combined with the winds is why we could get into blizzard conditions." As a dangerous combination of wind and snow moves into the Midwest, travel will become treacherous, and in some areas, officials may close roads. Airports were faring well Thursday, with all hubs in the region operating normally.
