With
winter storms being a major blight this year, predictions and landfall
estimates have been extended as far out as the Pacific. Winter Storm Nika,
dubbed by the Weather Channel on Sunday, is currently ripening as a naught but
a trough in the Jetstream right now, but will encounter an eddy in the upcoming
low pressure system and will be provided with enough moisture to batter the
Midwest with yet another snowstorm. The interception boundary will stretch as
far as the New England area and will likely last for about two to three days
given the favorable conditions. As of right now (February 1, 2014), it is
impossible to predict the severity on the storm and the associated accumulation
– just its arrival and duration.
