Winter Storm Nika Forecast: Widespread Snow, Ice on Tap from Plains to Northeast

Current RadarTuesday Forecast

Winter Storm Nika will create many travel problems from the Plains to the Midwest and Northeast into Wednesday. This includes some of the same locations that were affected by Winter Storm Maximus the last several days.

Winter storm warnings and advisories are posted from the Rockies to southern Maine in advance of Nika's impacts.

Western, Central States: Snow and Ice

The upper-level jet stream dip associated with Winter Storm Nika will move across the West into Tuesday.
As a result, light to moderate snow will spread across the northern and central Rockies. Amounts are generally expected to be much lighter than those from Winter Storm Maximus, with only a few inches expected.

Nika's Northeast, Middle Atlantic Impacts

Moisture from Nika will most likely make its way into the Middle Atlantic states and Northeast on Tuesday evening.
As the moisture runs into cold air near the surface of the earth, snow, freezing rain and sleet will develop across the region.
