Severe Weather Forecast: Damaging Winds, A Few Tornadoes Possible in the East

A cold front sweeping into the East will trigger more scattered severe thunderstorms Tuesday, before the severe threat takes a rest for a few days. Specifically, Tuesday's severe threat stretches from eastern Virginia and the Delmarva Peninsula to northern and parts of central Florida.
Damaging wind gusts will be the primary threat. However, a few tornadoes are also possible in southeast Virginia and eastern North Carolina. A brief rain-wrapped tornado cannot be ruled out farther south in south Georgia and Florida, as well.
The cold front should clear much of the East Coast by late Tuesday night.
Next threats:
  • Thunderstorms with locally heavy rain may rumble from the northern Gulf Coast to Florida and the Southeast Coast Thursday through Saturday.
  • A few strong t-storms may return to parts of the Plains states this weekend.
  • Neither of these events, for now, appear to be a widespread outbreak.
