Winter Storm Yona to Pummel Parts of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, South Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa

There is no rest for the winter weary in the Upper Midwest. Following on the heels of a fast-moving blizzard earlier this week (Winter Storm Xenia), Winter Storm Yona is poised to deliver more snow and strong winds. (MORE: Science Behind Naming Winter Storms at The Weather Channel)
Below are the forecast details regarding this latest winter storm.
There will be two rounds of wintry precipitation from the northern Plains to the Upper Midwest and western Great Lakes through early Saturday morning.
  • Round 1 (Through Thu. afternoon): Light snow continues from North Dakota into northern Minnesota, northern Wisconsin and parts of northern Michigan.
     
  • Round 2 (Thu. through Sat. morning): Snow spreads from eastern Colorado into central Nebraska, eastern South Dakota, central and northern Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin by Thu. afternoon. Snow intensifies in Minnesota, northwest Wisconsin and the U.P. of Michigan Thu. night, persisting into Friday, before pulling away and later Fri. into Sat. morning in the northern Great Lakes. At the same time, a stripe of sleet and freezing rain may persist from southern Minnesota into central/northern Wisconsin into parts of northern Michigan, before changing back to snow from west to east Friday.
