Charlotte could get 8 inches of snow this weekend, National Weather Service predicts

Charlotte can expect 6 to 8 inches of snow this weekend, the National Weather Service predicted Wednesday, while cautioning that forecast totals will change in the days ahead.

Even higher amounts are predicted to fall west, north and northeast of Charlotte, according to an early snowfall forecast map issued at 5 p.m. by the NWS office in Greer, S.C.

The season’s first Charlotte area snowstorm could be a doozie, with a foot to 18 inches of snow predicted in Statesville, Hickory and LIncolnton, 8 inches to a foot in Gastonia and Salisbury, and 4 to 6 inches in Monroe, according to the NWS map.
