Today marks another hurricane season come and gone, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has posted a stunning look back at the storms around the eastern United States.
The timelapse video, drawing on footage from the GOES East satellite, shows cyclones forming, then veering into the coast or out to sea. Two were major hurricanes: Florence, which inundated parts of the Carolinas, and Michael, which devastated the Florida Panhandle (see it around 6:48).
The year brought 15 named storms, including eight hurricanes, which the Administration said was above average.
