Background

A few severe storms cannot be ruled out in the Plains and Northwest Sunday, although the overall threat of severe storms will be minimal.

In the Plains, a southward-sagging cold front will trigger some scattered thunderstorms; one or two could turn severe with gusty winds and hail, mainly over parts of Kansas and Oklahoma.

In Oregon and Washington, showers and storms will develop as an upper-atmospheric disturbance swings through the region. A few of these storms could get a bit feisty with gusty winds and hail as well.
