September 2-A band of storms are redeveloping in Central and North Brevard, bringing wind gusts as high as 55 miles per hour.
Storms are expected to develop through about 7:30 p.m., said Tony Cristaldi, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Melbourne.
The storms, which stretch from east of Sanford through the Orlando area, are expected to collide with the East Coast Sea Breeze, he said.
Storms may develop along U.S. Highway 1, from Viera north through Titusville, he said.
At about 5:30 p.m., there were storms near Cocoa and Viera, and just east of Melbourne, which are expected to move across beachside communities.
Earlier today, a lightning strike killed one man and injured two others in a semi-rural area southwest of Miami.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials said the men were outside when a major storm passed through the area Monday afternoon. They tried to hide underneath a tractor-trailer but it was struck by lightning. The energy passed through the trailer and into the men.
