Scattered thunderstorms will be widespread across the Northeast and Middle Atlantic as a strong cold front sweeps through the region into Thursday night. These storms could produce localized damaging wind gusts, large hail and locally heavy rainfall. Although unlikely, an isolated tornado or two cannot be completely ruled out. Boston, New York City, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh are a few of the cities that could see strong to severe storms into Thursday evening.
Meanwhile, scattered showers and storms will continue to flare up over the Southwest and Rockies the next few days. More locally heavy rainfall and flash flooding is expected in the region.Flood watches are in effect for parts of the region.
Severe flash flooding is already affecting parts of central Colorado. Additional rainfall today is expected to exacerbate existing the flooding. Stay away from swollen rivers can creeks, as six inches of fast moving flood waters can knock people off their feet and two feet of rushing water can push an SUV downstream.
Denver, Boulder and Fort Collins are all areas that can expect more rain today.
