First tornadoes of 2014

Only two weeks after the start of the new year, the first tornadoes of 2014 touched down as a line of severe storms moved across the Deep South.
Though weak, the tornadoes still managed to cause some damage. Here's the list as it stands now:
  • Cherokee County, Ga. — EF-0
  • Isle of Wright County, Va. — EF-0
  • Smithfield, Va. — EF-0
  • Hampton, Va. — EF-0
In addition to the tornado reports, there were also a slew of wind reports across the Southeast.
In metro Atlanta, fire crews freed a 14-year-old girl from a mobile home Saturday morning after a tree crashed into the back bedroom. The girl was talking to paramedics as crews used an air bag to slowly lift the tree off of her, authorities said. She was taken to the hospital in serious condition.
The Raleigh area was also hard-hit, recording a wind gust of 86 miles per hour at Raleigh-Durham International Airport. Those severe winds were so strong they reduced an apartment building, which was under construction, into a pile of rubble.
Luckily, severe weather won't be a threat in the coming days
